We were going to write a blog post for November about Bonfire Night events in Tarporley and the Chester, Crewe & Northwich areas but as we come to post this, local events are either cancelled or in a state of hiatus. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and we’ll keep you updated as we find the latest on these.
Instead, and given the current situation, we thought we’d highlight a few days out and activities, available around the Rising Sun over the winter period. Many can be done as small groups, some are more suited to individuals; all can be enhanced by starting, finishing or including within them a little light refreshment… obviously.
For example, in our October post, we talked about how we welcome dogs and highlighted a few dog friendly walks in the area. If that’s you, then you can still read that article, do the walk and bring your pooch for some post perambulation pampering.
However, as the nights get longer and the days cooler, we thought we’d highlight a few of our favourite winter activities and some that our regular visitors like to do when they visit the Rising Sun too.
Things to do in Tarporley throughout winter
Winter is a great time to get out and explore the best that the central Cheshire area has to offer. There are plenty of heritage sites open throughout the winter. The National Trust has actually created a page specially for Autumnal activities in the area and English Heritage’s Beeston Castle is just a few miles away.
For road cyclists, a quick look at Strava’s heat maps shows we’re on a few popular winter cycling routes. Plus, Komoot has two excellent (40 & 60K) loops from Tarporley village to Beeston Castle.
Alternatively, If you like Golf then we’re the ideal location for some pre or post golf hospitality, with two courses (the McDonald and the Portal Premier Club) and the Eaton Hill Driving Range practically on our doorstep.
So, there you go. If you’re lucky enough to find a Halloween or Bonfire Night party near Tarporley, to kick off the early part of the festive season, we’ll be here if you’d like to book a table and make night of it.
If however, the current situation precludes that, then perhaps you’ll think of us and pop in when you’re enjoying the great outdoors and the best that winter has to offer in Central Cheshire.
